Concerning footage showed the moment a man perched on the driver's side car window as it shot down a busy highway.

The scary stunt was videoed by another motorist who notice the perpetrator on the road wearing a neon yellow T-shirt and a red bandana tied around his head.

In the video, the man can be seen standing entirely upright in his blue-grey Nissan and evening opening his arms out wide before smiling back at other motorists on the road.

It is not clear if anyone else was driving the car at the time or how the car managed to maintain its speed.

The speed the car was going at the time is unclear.

The footage was taken from the 91 Freeway in Corona, California according to KTLA news station.

Only hours after KTLA posted the video on their YouTube channel, it gained thousands of views.

One person commented: "So many innocent people dying in car crash accidents, what disrespectful people."

Another view, apparently unimpressed, added: "Caption: where organs for transplant come from."

Not everyone condemned the video and some even said the stunt showed "skill".

Others suggested it was only possible because the driver put the vehicle on cruise control.

"Dude needs a job as a stuntman," one person responded.

It is not yet clear if Riverside County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.

In May, the same stretch of road saw a tragic incident when a pedestrian was struck. Cory Hunter, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers found him lying on the road, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

California Highway Patrol was investigating the death.
