Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has endured a hectic week at the helm at Old Trafford.

Fresh off the back of beating fierce rivals Leeds, the Dutchman has got straight back down to work to get his side prepared for their Europa League showdown with Barcelona. The Red Devils tackle the Spanish giants in the first leg of their playoff at the Camp Nou on Thursday evening.

Whilst he is focusing on matters on the pitch, there is even more news emerging regarding a potential Qatari takeover at Old Trafford. With that all being said, take a look at the best headlines coming out of United over the past 24 hours.

UEFA green-light Qatari takeover

UEFA are happy to approve any Qatari-based bid for Man Utd despite initial doubts that it would be going against their rules, it has been claimed. The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is spearheading an effort to buy United with his Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) thought to be financing the move.

Doubts did emerge, however, with UEFA rules potentially putting a stop to a takeover bid from the gulf state considering Qatar Sports Investment’s involvement at PSG. It is thought that UEFA would consider the two as separate entities, which would eliminate a major stumbling point regarding a potential Middle Eastern takeover.

Mbappe leaves United fans baffled

Sticking with PSG, the club’s superstar striker Kylian Mbappe has left United supporters scratching their heads with a bizarre social media post. Following an underwhelming 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, he posted an image of himself.

Alongside the caption “all that remains to be done”, he added "Manchester United's team is now on PSG."

Supporters have struggled to find a reason behind Mbappe’s post in the hours after the game although some have suggested it could be something to do with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s attendance at the Parc des Princes.

Jordi Cruyff reveals Man Utd affection

Ahead of Thursday evening’s clash with Barcelona, former Red Devils’ star Jordi Cruyff has admitted that he felt “liberated” at Old Trafford following his arrival from the Camp Nou.

“I think I had that stress in Spain when I was younger and when I went to Manchester United that's where I felt liberated from all this - in my opinion – stupidity,” he said. “I still have it almost on a daily basis, the older generation they still have tears when they see me, they want to talk, they just have a necessity to say something about my father and people still have tears in their eyes. I hear it. I'm proud.”

Cruyff won the Treble with the Red Devils during the 1998/99 season.
