Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is hoping to get clarification on the future of the club this week.

United co-owner Avram Glazer is scheduled to be at the Reds’ FA Cup Final clash against rivals Manchester City at Wembley.

And although it is unclear how long Glazer is planning to be in the UK, it is understood that Ten Hag has been told that he will be given a clearer picture of whether United’s American owners intend to sell-up or remain in charge at Old Trafford over the coming days.

Ten Hag is desperate to be given the go-ahead to step up his summer transfer plans. He wants a world-class striker - Harry Kane is his No 1 target - a midfielder, centre-back and goalkeeper. But the ownership issue is casting a shadow over the club. Since opening themselves up for investment offers in November, the Glazers have had bids from both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Shiekh Jasseem Bin Hamad Al Thani.

The Americans’ £6 billion asking price has not yet been met. Ratcliffe, who wants to buy a controlling interest, has offered two of the six Glazer siblings, Avram and Joel, the option of retaining their stake in the club. Sheikh Jassem has set his sights on removing the Glazers from the landscape completely.

Ten Hag was handed in excess of £200 million to bring in new players when he arrived at United last summer. But he was forced to use loan signings in the winter transfer window and after guiding United back into the Champions League, he wants to strengthen significantly this summer.

Pressure is growing on the Glazers to confirm whether they intend to sell or bring in outside investment to finance a stadium rebuild. Ten Hag hopes they will offer him more clarification now the season has ended.

He is also interested in landing Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount - but feels the Londoners’ £80 million valuation is excessive. There is also likely to be a raft of departures, with hopes that more transfer cash can be generated by the sales of Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Elanga.
