Bet365’s Man City v Man Utd preview: United look to thwart treble bid

United famously won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in 1999 and they will be desperate to prevent their neighbours, who take on Inter Milan in the Champions League final on 10th June, from emulating that feat.

The Red Devils beat Newcastle 2-0 in February's EFL Cup final and are to lift the FA Cup at Wembley but City have been outstanding since the turn of the year and are to lift it themselves on Saturday.

Slick City yet to concede on impressive Cup run

Manchester City wrapped up their fifth Premier League title in six seasons with three games to spare, allowing Pep Guardiola to rest his first-team regulars and unleash his talented reserves against Chelsea, Brighton and Brentford.

City beat the Blues 1-0, drew 1-1 at Brighton and lost 1-0 to the Bees on the final day, conceding an 85th-minute goal, but they should be back to full strength for Saturday's FA Cup final against derby rivals Manchester United.

The Citizens have not put a foot wrong in the cup this season, winning all five of their ties to nil, and they are to extend that trend with a victory and clean sheet in 90 minutes against United.

They defeated Premier League big guns Chelsea 4-0 and Arsenal 1-0 in the third and fourth rounds before winning 3-0 away to Bristol City and demolishing Burnley, runaway winners of this season's Championship, 6-0 in the quarter-finals at the Etihad Stadium.

Riyad Mahrez then scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 semi-final win over Sheffield United and City are to beat United in 90 minutes with the draw

Late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford gave United a 2-1 Premier League win over City in January but the Citizens were irresistible in the first derby of the season, racing into a 4-0 half-time lead on their way to a 6-3 victory at the Etihad.

They have been leading at half-time and full-time in four of their five FA Cup ties this season and are to do so again in the final.

Pressure on Rashford to deliver for depleted Red Devils

Manchester United finished third in the Premier League, 14 points behind champions City, and Erik ten Hag has not had much luck with injuries in his first season in England.

Key centre-back Lisandro Martinez is out, while fellow stopper Raphael Varane only returned to action in mid-May and forward Anthony Martial (hamstring) will miss the final along with Bayern Munich loanee Marcel Sabitzer.

Winger Antony is a major doubt so Marcus Rashford will shoulder much of the goalscoring responsibility.

Rashford's winner against City in January was one of 17 goals, none of them penalties, in 35 Premier League appearances for the England man, who is to be the First Goalscorer on Saturday.

Rashford also scored in the EFL Cup final against Newcastle after Casemiro had given United the lead and the Brazil international is to open the scoring against City and to find the net at any time.

Casemiro has broken the deadlock in two of his last three league outings, scoring in the ninth minute against Bournemouth and the sixth against Chelsea, and also notched twice in the FA Cup fourth-round win over Reading.

Derby rivals both less fluent outside Manchester

Home advantage has been crucial for both Manchester clubs this season as City scored 60 of their 94 Premier League goals at the Etihad and United took just one point from eight away games against the rest of the top nine.

Four of United's five FA Cup wins this season have been by a 3-1 margin and that correct score can be backed at at Wembley.

However, City should be fresh after sealing the league title with three fixtures remaining and their defensive excellence over the second half of the season points to a 2-0 win for the favourites at

City have drawn their last five away games in the Champions League, two 0-0 and three 1-1, and only 26 per cent of their away league matches have produced over 3.5 goals compared with 58 per cent at home.

They do have one of the world's most dangerous strikers in Erling Haaland, who scored a hat-trick against United in the 6-3 home league win and another treble in the FA Cup quarter-final rout of Burnley.

Haaland is to score two or more goals at Wembley and to sign off an extraordinary first season in English football with an FA Cup final hat-trick or more.
