LA Galaxy manager Greg Vanney confronted angry fans after the 1-0 home defeat to Charlotte FC as players watched on and chants of "We want better" rang out.

The Galaxy find themselves bottom of the MLS Western Conference after 14 games, collecting just two wins and three draws while losing nine. And fans appear to have reached a breaking point with the five-time MLS Cup champions.

Former Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, and West Ham striker Javier Hernandez also received two yellow cards in the 1-0 defeat to Charlotte FC. His sending off means he will face a suspension, making matters worse for LA Galaxy.

Head coach Vanney confronted angry fans while his players watched on. Some of his roster also threw their shirts into the crowd before retreating back to the halfway line.

A lot of the blame has been placed on team president Chris Klein's door. In December, MLS suspended Klein after the league found that the Galaxy circumvented salary rules when signing Cristian Pavon in 2019. They failed to categorise him as a "designated player" per league guidelines and the club were fined $2million (£1.6m).

LA Galaxy were also placed under a transfer ban for the upcoming summer transfer window by the MLS, meaning improvements to the squad cannot be made. Should LA Galaxy fail to make the Play-Offs, it is reported that Klein will step down.

"I love the LA Galaxy," a statement by Klein to fans is said to have read, according to the Daily Mail. "The most important part of the club is the people who are involved every day who share the same passion that I do.

"Our staff, our players, and everyone at AEG work tirelessly to give you a club that you can feel a part of and be proud of.

"I uphold the values established by those who came before me, those who are here now, and those who will carry the club into the future. This includes accountability for the results on the field.

"When we hired [head coach] Greg Vanney at the end of the 2020 season, he had a plan to build out the soccer operations for our club, and he laid out a five-year plan to build the LA Galaxy into a club that competes for championships year in and year out.

"This plan included making the playoffs in 2022 and advancing in the playoffs in 2023. I believe in what we are building and in the people who are building it.

"However, if we fall short of our goals this year, I will step aside as President of the club that I so dearly love. This was my commitment to Dan Beckerman and AEG when I agreed to my extension, and I stand behind that promise."
