Susanna Reid announced on Wednesday that Good Morning Britain viewers will not see her on the show next week.

During a discussion with entertainment editor Richard Arnold and co-host Richard Madeley she revealed she would be taking a break from the show over half-term.

As Richard spoke about his time interviewing The Little Mermaid remake stars Melissa McCarthy and Javier Bardem, he made a joke about Nick Cannon and his 12 children.

He explained: "Nick Cannon of course just in case you didn't understand that reference has 12 children, which is quite the litter, you have got to get up quite early for that."

Susanna quipped: "Or go to bed very late," before the entertainment reporter hit back: "Oh look at you, someone is going on half-term."

"Yes. I can confirm I am off today, leaving it in your capable hands. No more interruptions," she confirmed.

Susanna later interrupted Richard again before adding: "It's ok, you won't have this for the next 10 days."

ITV presenters often take a break over the half-terms and school holidays throughout the year with Holly Willoughby already enjoying a break from This Morning following the announcement of Phillip Schofield's departure.

Holly will continue to be absent from This Morning next week while Lorraine Kelly will also take a break.

After reports Holly was involved in Phillip's axing from a show he hosted for 21 years, ITV confirmed to Mirror that talent have no input in editorial decisions and Phil decided to leave on his own accord.

An ITV spokesperson told the Mirror: "Phillip Schofield’s decision to step down from This Morning was (as his statement made clear) a decision agreed between Phillip and ITV. "

His final appearance on the show was last Thursday and his immediate exit was confirmed two days later.

On Monday, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary aired a tribute to Phillip, which viewers blasted as "insincere".

Kicking off the show, Alison said: "Now we can't start today's show without paying tribute to the man who has spent the last two decades sitting on this sofa – Phillip Schofield."

"Everyone on and off the screen at ITV and This Morning want to say a huge thank you to Phil for what he's done to make this show a success over the last 21 years," Dermot continued before Alison added: "Quite simply we all know he's one of the best live television broadcasters this country has ever had and we, and all the team, wish him all the best for the future."
