An Australian Idol contestant collapsed on set while the cameras were rolling, after judges gave him the outcome of his audition.

Noah Cookson, 19, was being filmed for Tuesday night’s episode of the talent contest when he fainted, after he received negative feedback from judges Kyle Sandilands, Amy Shark, Harry Connick Jr. and guest judge Marcia Hines.

However, despite the comments, Noah was shocked to learn he had made it through to the next stage of the contest – the top 25.

The judges were left shaken when Noah dropped to the floor, after he became visibly anxious.

For his audition, the young musician performed a rendition of Bob Dylan's Forever Young, where he was joined by two other artists, Tully Wishart and Bobby Holmes.

The trio informed that one member was due to be sent home.

Amy said: “This one was really hard guys because you didn’t shine anywhere near as bright as we wanted you to.

“Noah I have such a soft spot for you man so it was tough.”

Kyle said he didn't think any of the three young men deserved to make it through, however, decided to give the chance to Noah and Bobby.

He said: “I wanted you all to go home, just quietly.

“Well done you’re both through. Not what I wanted - but let’s see how you are next time, go celebrate fellas.”

It was at this point that Noah collapsed to the floor, with the judges rushing over to him.

Amy said: “Oh my god”, while Kyle shouted: “Oh s*** is he really unconscious.”

“I saw that happening,” replied Amy.

At this point, a medic was in attendance, and Noah was given a drink of water. Coming around, he got up from the floor and apologised to the judges.

Harry replied: “It’s all good man, that’s a lot of stress.”

A clip that was broadcast later on during the show featured the musician lying down in the medical room, with his mother by his side.

Noah said that he felt lucky for getting through, but that the judges’ harsh words had upset him. He said: “Just with all the stress and the nerves and pressure and the stuff that they said got to me and I just passed out.”
