F1 23 is the the upcoming Formula One racing game from Codemasters and EA Sports, here's everything we know about the game so far.

F1 23 will be the third Formula 1 racing game to be published by EA Sports after its $1.2 billion acquisition of renowned developers Codemasters back in February 2021, following in the footsteps of F1 2021 and F1 22. The sport of F1 is arguably more popular right now than it ever has been, with the release of Netflix's mega-popular Formula 1: Drive to Survive series back in 2019, combined with the enthralling battle between current world champion Max Verstappen and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton in 2021, leading to huge influx of new fans.

F1 racing games used to be a niche, but as proven by EA's acquisition of Codemasters, those days are long gone. These games are insanely popular and F1 23 could be the biggest yet. Here's everything we know about F1 23, including the release date, trailer, gameplay features and more.

F1 23: release date

The F1 23 release date has been confirmed for June 16, 2023. For players who want to dive in early, you can pick up the F1 23 Champions Edition to get early access from June 13, 2023.

Current F1 world champion and Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen features as the cover star of the F1 23 Champions Edition, with Mercedes AMG Petronas driver Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and McLaren driver Lando Norris featuring on the cover of the F1 23 standard edition.

F1 23: platforms and crossplay

F1 23 platforms will include both current and last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC via the EA App, Epic Games Store and Steam. F1 23 crossplay has been confirned and will support online multiplayer across all platforms, including cross-gen between PS4 and PS5, and Xbox Series X |S and Xbox One.

The official F1 23 reveal trailer debuted on May 3, showcasing the graphics, sound effects and some gameplay features ahead of the game's full release. We'll feature the video below so that you can enjoy it in all of it's glory.

Since then, we've had another F1 23 gameplay deep-dive video which goes into detail about some of the changes for this year's game.

F1 23: new gameplay features

F1 23 is set for a significant upgrade in terms of handling and physics, with improved low-speed traction, and overall vehicle driveability. Additionally, acceleration, braking and cornering have also been reworked for this year's instalment : .

Physics calculations regarding the slip of the tyres and how they interact with the inertia of the car have been updated, with the engine torque delivery also being refined, leading to more progressive steps when using the throttle and going up the gears. The underfloor of the cars have also been reworked, with on-track surfaces – such as kerbs and rumble strips – are set to be more noticeable.

After receiving feedback from real F1 teams, and drivers such as Anthony Davidson, there's now a closer balance between mechanical grip and aerodynamic grip, which should lead to a more true-to-life experience. And thanks to F1 23's new Precision Drive feature, these updates will be way more obvious for controller players, with this experience being overhauled for the new game.

There's also a new 35% race distance mode for this year, and red flags are also being added to the game, for more dramatic play sessions.

F1 23: Braking Point 2

Braking Point, the narrative-driven story mode from F1 2021, is making its return in F1 23. Braking Point 2 will once again feature Aiden Jackson as the playable character. The devilish Devon Butler also returns, but this time as your teammate at new team Konnersport Racing.

Braking Point 2 will also feature Butler's sister Callie Mayer, who has become the first woman to win the F2 Championship.

F1 23: tracks

F1 23 tracks will include every track from the confirmed 2023 Formula One World Championship season, including brand new ones like Las Vegas and Lusail, with Circuit Paul Ricard (France), Shanghai International Circuit (China), and the Algarve International Circuit (Portugal) also available in various game modes.
