Trying to decide what to get for your loved one can be really tricky on Valentine's Day. Whether you think outside the box and get them something personal to the pair of you, or you get them the traditional roses and a balloon, it's the thought that counts behind the gifts.

A man has shared his Valentine's Day 'epic fail' online leaving people feeling really sorry for him as social media users watched his heart-shaped balloon float away into the sky - along with a much more expensive gift it was tied onto, leaving him devastated and confused about what to do.

The Romeo had arrived at his girlfriend's house with the expensive gifts - but the romantic delivery did not go as planned after it floated away.

The TikToker had hidden a brand new iPhone within a bouquet of red roses but when he tried to show it off, the gift, which was tied to a bunch of helium balloons, suddenly took off.

The couple couldn't do anything but watch as the box, containing the phone, disappeared into the sky - containing hundreds of pounds worth of technology.

Social media users have been left in stitches at the funny incident, with the shocking fail racking up over 15 million views.

Someone commented: "To the insurance: 'yeah it floated away.'"

Another said: "Nooooooo!!!!!!!"

A TikToker joked: "The gift is not the phone, it's the adventure of finding it."

Someone else joked that it had landed at their house a few hours ago, whilst a nifty social media user said they would've taken the roses and thrown them at the balloons in order to bring them back down to the ground.

"I screamed to the heavens", a woman sympathised.
