Samantha Womack has shown off her new chest tattoo, after a battle with breast cancer.

The former EastEnders actress, 50, who played Veronica 'Ronnie' Mitchell on the soap shared a black and white snap of herself on Instagram, wearing a striped shirt opened at the chest, revealing her new eye catching tattoo.

The star got the tattoo in Liverpool, before performing her Eurovision 1991 entry, A Message To Your Heart, ahead of the contest this Saturday.

Sam captioned the post: "Liverpool……. Tattoo finished on Bold street.

"Heading to Camp and Furnace for my Eurovision performance at midnight with my amazing backing singers Shania Pain GET READY!"

After beating breast cancer, the mum of two told the Mirror how she wants more children.

“I suddenly really appreciated my kids,” she said. “I really wanted to do it all again.”

After performing as part of the Eurovision celebrations, Samantha appeared on Loose Women, where she urged young women all over the UK and Ireland to check their breasts after her breast cancer diagnosis.

The actress announced in December that she had been given the all clear on her cancer journey, five months after revealing she had been diagnosed, and following treatment which included a lumpectomy and chemotherapy,

Samantha revealed that she has been inundated with messages from young women who are also going through a breast cancer diagnosis.

"Please check yourselves - young people too. It's so important, please, please, it happens to young people too," Samantha said while on the Loose Women panel.

Back in December, Samantha revealed that she was cancer free, just five months after revealing she had been diagnosed with the devastating disease.

Samantha was diagnosed with cancer in June 2022 but previously admitted that she had not spotted any symptoms and a random health check led to doctors discovering a 'little shadow'.

Her partner, Oliver Farnworth, who played Andy Carver on Coronation Street, has been by her side throughout the twists and turns cancer served up, and now the pair are carefully thinking about expanding their family together. Though at the age of 50 and after chemo, Sam knows it may not be quite so simple.

She added: “Obviously throughout treatment, your ovaries are challenged because chemo can change your hormonal status, so I don’t even know if it would be possible now, post-treatment. And it sounds incredibly greedy because I’ve done it.”

She has children – son Benjamin, 21, daughter Lili-Rose and stepson Michael from her marriage to Mark Womack – but Sam’s brush with death has made her more determined to focus on celebrating life.

“Lili’s 18,” she adds. “But I just suddenly had this real yearning. It was like another little switch. Ollie and I talked about it and said, well, never say never. If it’s not possible naturally, there are other ways. I just want to celebrate life.”
