Rebel Wilson says girlfriend's family 'hasn't been as accepting' of their status
Rebel Wilson has discussed her relationship with Ramona Agruma and admitted her girlfriend's family haven't fully accepted the pair's relationship yet.
The actress, 42, candidly spoke about the positivity she felt from her family after she came out to them, but also revealed Ramona's family weren't as open.
She was full of praise for the way those closest to her responded to her announcement, saying she felt incredibly supported by her clan.
"My whole family has just been amazing," she gushed to Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne on their Life Uncut podcast.
However, the Pitch Perfect star then revealed her relationship had proved to be more difficult to come to terms with for the family of her 38-year-old partner.
Rebel Wilson cuddles baby in sweet post months after welcoming her via surrogate"Ramona's family hasn't been as accepting," she added. "And so in many respects, it has been a lot harder on her to have to make the news public.
"With her, she's not in the public eye, it's much harder on her. It's so sad to see what happened with her family over it. Hopefully, people will change their attitude about things."
She went on to once again call out those who made her announce they were dating before she was ready, saying some of the pair's family weren't aware of their partnership at the time.
"There were a couple of hurried conversations that I would have liked to have just taken my time with," she confessed.
"I've had instances with the Australian press being really mean towards me... It was just another thing in that line of nasty things that they've done over the years."
Rebel came out as gay in a sweet Instagram post last June before others were able to share her announcement.
At the time, she introduced Ramona to her millions of followers on the platform and wrote alongside two pink hearts and a rainbow: "I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess #loveislove "
In November, the pair welcomed a baby via surrogacy, with Rebel gushing the tot's arrival was something she had spent years dreaming of.
Announcing the child on social media, she said at the time: "Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate I can't even describe the love I have for her, she's a beautiful miracle!"
