Much of the UK is going to be wet again on Wednesday, with rain moving in from the west.

The rain will be patchy to begin with, with the sun trying to break through, but later in the day, most areas will experience some showers, with some of them heavy, with hail and thunder in places.

Seven flood warnings are in place for various parts of the country, including East Devon, Dorset and Cambridgeshire, while there are also 35 flood alerts.

The Met Office ’s Clare Nasir said: “Low pressure will gradually drift in from northern and western areas into Wednesday, which drift towards the south come Thursday.

“Showery rain comes in from the west, with a stronger wind. Inland, though, there will be some clearer skies and even some fog patches as temperatures dip down to single figures.

“It will be a cool start to the day, but for some it will be bright with some sunshine.

“The showery rain will bring cloud with it, with a little bit of wet weather is expected for Wales and the West Country.

“The sun will get to work making holes in the cloud, but it will means showers developing again. Once more they will be heavy with the risk of thunder, even with some hail mixed in.”

Temperatures will at least be pretty warm, with highs of 18C in the south-east, with the rest of the UK generally seeing anywhere between 13C to 17C.

The wet weather could be here for the following day, too, as Met Office spokesperson Stephen Dixon explained: “Widespread showers are possible on Thursday and some of the showers again could be quite heavy in nature for a time.”
