Miriam is best known for her portrayal of Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter series, yet she recently revealed she didn’t enjoy the wizarding world.

The loose-lipped icon starred as Head of the Herbology department at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

But despite the success of the film series, Miriam has confessed that she’s not actually a Potterhead herself.

She sent a personalised video message to a fan, wishing him a happy 30th birthday, on Cameo, where she introduced herself as “Professor Sprout from Harry Potter”.

Then she dropped the bombshell: “I understand you and Chris are huge Harry Potter fans. Here’s the thing, I’m not.

“I’m not against it, I’m just not interested. I’ve never seen a film. I’ve never seen the books, I’ve never read them. I just pocket the money when it comes and I’m very grateful for it.

She continued: "I think that JK Rowling is a terrific writer, and I'm sure that Harry Potter's world is a good world. But it's not my world.

"I have to step very gingerly over the gap between you and me, and hope that you'll understand that despite the fact that I'm headmistress of Hufflepuff and you're in Gryffindor, I don't really want to talk about 'Harry Potter.'"

She also admitted to not being impressed with the amount she was paid for the role, telling Metro: "I never made Harry Potter millions. I think the three or four main people did and they deserve it but my character didn’t.

“I was only in two and I only got £60,000 for being Professor Sprout but I’m not grumbling... now.

"I grumbled then but it made me very famous.”

The actress has never kept her opinions too close to her chest as she isn't afraid to speak her mind and is certainly an open book.

She continues to make headlines for her funny remarks on TV appearances and in her own documentaries.

Yet her loose lips has got her in trouble over the years, including swearing live on broadcast and labelling Leonardo DiCaprio "smelly".
