Queen Camilla has been forced to pull out of an engagement after contracting a "seasonal illness", Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

The Queen Consort had been due to attend an event in the West Midlands tomorrow, which has now been postponed.

She had been expected to visit Elmhurst Ballet School, in Birmingham, to celebrate the school's centenary before visiting Southwater One Library in Telford - but these engagements will now be re-arranged.

However, the palace has said that at the moment, Camilla is hoping to be well enough to undertake engagements scheduled for Wednesday as planned. It is believed she has been struck down with a heavy cold or bug.

On Thursday, she is scheduled to join King Charles on a trip to Milton Keynes to celebrate its new city status.

Her last engagement was last Thursday, where she visited Storm Family Centre, a charity supporting domestic abuse survivors in south London.

Almost exactly a year ago to the day, it was announced by Buckingham Palace that Camilla had tested positive for Covid.

It came after her husband Charles contracted the virus for a second time and sources said at the time that Camilla was "triple vaccinated".

However, afterwards, she was forced to miss an event after still suffering after effects from the virus.

It came after she revealed she had been left with a slight cough in the aftermath of Covid.

When she met a group of record-breaking charity rowers at Clarence House, she told them: "Well, it's taken me three weeks and I still can’t get shot of it.

"Probably my voice might suddenly go coughing and spluttering."

Meanwhile, planning is said be continuing at a pace for her and King Charles' coronation, which will take place at Westminster Abbey on May 6.

At the weekend, the coronation emblem, which will feature throughout a special bank holiday weekend, was unveiled.

The Coronation weekend will begin when Charles is crowned monarch and Camilla as Queen Consort on Saturday, May 6.

The following day, thousands of spectators – awarded tickets in a national ballot – will watch a star-studded Windsor Castle concert as the celebrations continue.

Other national events taking place will include street parties and community gatherings, as well as a day of volunteering on the bank holiday Monday.
