Mikel Arteta has garnered a reputation for letting his emotions get the better of him on the touchline, but the Arsenal manager harboured his energy in the perfect manner on Tuesday night.

Arteta watched on as his side produced the perfect response to their recent four-match winless run against a beleaguered Chelsea side, who have now lost all six of their matches since Frank Lampard agreed to return to Stamford Bridge as caretaker manager.

On the same day that Jurgen Klopp was slapped with a charge by the FA for his touchline antics at the weekend, all eyes were on Arteta, who was very animated in Arsenal's previous league meeting with Chelsea back in November.

But while Arteta was as passionate as ever in his technical area, regularly encouraging his players and passing instructions on, he didn't let his emotions get the better of him.

BeIN pundit Richard Keys was particularly vocal on Arteta's behaviour following the reverse fixture and even urged the FA to take action against the Spaniard after he consistently left his technical area.

The former Sky Sports broadcaster said on social media back in November: "Why is this allowed every week @FA_PGMOL? Arteta has been jumping up & down all game - way outside his technical area. Potter is in his & 4th is watching. Do something about this man."

Keys has been critical of the Arsenal manager's behaviour on more than one occasion. Back in September, he mused: "Why is Arteta allowed to spend the game on the touchline? Again today - in front of the 4th official as well. Does he has special dispensation?" He also took aim at Arteta last April, when he said: "And why is this irritating man allowed to spend 90 minutes outside of his technical area? Can’t the fourth (official) see this?"

Arsenal's big win moved them back to the top of the Premier League, temporarily, ahead of Manchester City, who now have two games in hand on their rivals in the race for the title.

While Arteta was on his best behaviour at the Emirates, Liverpool boss Klopp is facing a touchline ban after being charged by the FA for angrily remonstrating with the fourth official during Liverpool's dramatic win over Tottenham and criticising referee Paul Tierney.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the FA said: "Liverpool FC’s Jurgen Klopp has been charged following their Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur FC on Sunday 30 April.

"It is alleged that the manager’s comments regarding the match official during post-match media interviews constitutes improper conduct in that they imply bias, and/or question the integrity of the referee, and/or are personal/offensive, and/or bring the game into disrepute. Jurgen Klopp has until Friday 5 May to provide a response."
