Man Utd urged to become a "different animal" by signing Kane in transfer repeat
Teddy Sheringham believes Harry Kane would turn Manchester United into a "different animal" if he makes the move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Tottenham forward has been linked with a switch to the Red Devils with just over a year remaining on his contract at the club. Kane has scored an impressive 24 Premier League goals this season and chipped in with two assists in Spurs' 2-2 draw against United last Thursday.
United fans seemed pleased with the rumours that Kane could be coming to the Red Devils at the end of the season. They sang: "We'll see you in June, Harry Kane, we'll see you in June."
Sheringham, who played for both Tottenham and United in his career, admitted that Kane would vastly improve Erik ten Hag's side and give them a focal point at the top end of the pitch. Only Erling Haaland (34) has scored more goals than Kane in the top-flight this term.
Speaking to Lord Ping, Sheringham said: "If Harry Kane were to join United, then of course it would make them a better team and would bridge that gap between where they are at the moment and competing for the Premier League title next season.

"United are close - they've already won the League Cup this season and have a place in the FA Cup Final to look forward to. If you add Harry Kane to that team, suddenly it starts to look like a different animal."

Reflecting on his own experience after replacing Eric Cantona in 1997 and going on to become a treble winner with the Red Devils, Sheringham admitted any Tottenham fan would not begrudge Kane a move at this juncture. He added: "I joined United because I felt that Tottenham were not going to allow me to compete for trophies.
"I didn’t think the club were going to bring in the players that would have enabled us to challenge for the biggest prizes. Harry has got to look at the situation at the club and ask himself the same questions that I did.
"If he doesn’t think that the club are going to be able to bring in players that would see them competing, then I don’t think there’s a single Tottenham fan that would begrudge him the opportunity to win trophies with another club."
Tottenham currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, nine points behind fourth-place United and the Red Devils have two games in hand in the race for a top-four finish.
