This is the fearsome snarling mugshot of a man who has allegedly pulled a knife on cops and made threats to kill, according to a police report.

Many members of the community have been left stunned by the snarling mugshot. The manic looking image was taken by booking officers in Connecticut as he starts to face a raft of charges.

Raymond Lapinski, a 29-year-old man from Hartford, Connecticut, was charged with multiple offences in connection with several incidents with law enforcement members in Greater Hartford this month.

The suspect's mugshot, which was taken shortly after his arrest, shows him with his teeth bared and his eyes filled with rage.

It is claimed he first threatened to kill a sergeant and then later pulled a knife on another officer.

The latest series of incidents started late Monday morning, the Middletown Press reported.

Police told the paper that when Lapinski shouted at an on-duty state police sergeant asking are you a “cop” as he “kills cops.”

A spokesman for the CSP told news channel WFSB: “Using profane language, the male went on to threaten to kill the sergeant specifically.”

After a car chase, he was spotted walking in the street and approached at which point he is said to have pulled out a knife.

“Officers sustained minor injuries during the struggle to secure Lapinski in the cruiser,” the CSP told WFSB.

The police say three other nearby cities have also charged him with threatening some of their officers.

He was charged with assault on a public safety officer, a criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, interfering with an officer, and carrying a dangerous weapon.

Lapinski was also charged with second-degree threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and disobeying the signal of an officer/attempting to elude or escape an officer in connection with the incident.

He had several other warrants stemming from incidents earlier this month where he was accused of engaging police in pursuit, driving recklessly, and interfering with officers.

His next court date is scheduled for May 10.
