Conjoined twins have opened up about their lives together and said they have even learnt to deal with the challenges of life, including men's strange fetish requests.

Lupita and Carmen Andrade grew up in Connecticut, US, and share a pelvis, bloodstream, liver and reproductive system.

They control one leg each and became used to their body through the use of physical therapy, taking their first steps at the age of four.

Carmen said the pair have their "challenges" but enjoy a "great life" together. They cannot be separated as this will risk their lives.

She told Today.com: "We go to movies and concerts [sharing one seat] and we travel on aeroplanes."

Their dating life is also happy and asexual Lupita gets on well with Carmen's boyfriend Daniel, whom she met on the dating app Hinge in October 2020.

“I never tried to hide the fact that I’m a conjoined twin, which meant I got a lot of messages from guys with fetishes,” Carmen said.

She added: "It’s funny because I stay up later than Lupita, but when Daniel sleeps over, I fall asleep quickly — and he stays up talking with her."

Carmen continued: “Sometimes I feel bad because I want to spend so much time with Daniel. So we try to come up with compromises. Like, [Lupita] will choose where we go out to dinner, or what activity we’re going to do.”

Daniel and Carmen are not sexually intimate with each other and she told Jubilee last year that their relationship is like a "close friendship."

They plan to get engaged in the future but want to live with each other first.

“Daniel and I love kids, but we don’t want any of our own,” she added.

“I like being a dog mom! Lupita and I can’t get pregnant, we have endometriosis and we’re also on a hormone blocker that prevents us from menstruating."

The twins, born in Mexico, say they have the same taste in clothes and they have been sewn together by a helpful neighbour since they were five years old.

Remarkably, Lupita said she can feel the moment when her sister is feeling anxious or wants to cry, saying she can feel a "stomach drop".

“When we were nearly six, we had a nightmare that we were going to fall off of a plane, and then we literally fell off of our bed,” Carmen explained.

“That only happened once, but we can feel the other person’s emotions. That happens all the time.”

Living life close by day by day comes with challenges, but the twins say they don't get sick of each other and listen to their own music and do their own activities.

Their life together does earn them stares and unpleasant comments online. Lupita recently noticed a man filming them despite claiming he was filming his daughter.

In the future, both of them want to work as vets and Lupita also wants to become a comedy writer.
