Soap actor Helen Flanagan gave a glimpse of life behind the scenes in South Africa as she returns to the jungle for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

She shared a screenshot from a sweet Facetime call with her son Charlie, aged two, while she was in a hotel.

Another image shows her sat on the hotel balcony while giving a peace sign to the camera with her hair wrapped up in a towel.

Helen captioned the images: "Super excited for Monday the 24th as @imacelebrity South Africa is starting.

One wrote: "I know you’re gunna bring all the giggles can’t wait babe."

Another said: "You were brill when you last did it but are you actually going to be doing any trials this time?"

And one wrote: "Have the most amazing time babe! …. We’re right behind you."

Helen is returning to compete in to make her children proud and insists she has "grown" since she last went into the jungle.

The 32-year-old former Coronation Street star appeared in the twelfth series of the ITV show back in 2012.

During her first stint on the gruelling show, Helen was voted by the public to do a number of Busktucker Trials, which she bowed out of moments after they began and became one of the show's most memorable celebrities for her reaction to the gruelling tasks.

Helen famously had to face seven Bucktucker Trials in a row during her time in the jungle.

After finishing in seventh place on the programme, Helen went on to have three children with her ex Scott Sinclair; Matilda, seven, Delilah, four, and two-year-old Charlie.

Now Flanagan, best known for playing Helen Webster in Corrie, is determined to face up to her fears in the South African version of the show and make her children proud.

Helen said: “It’s going to be different. I was only 22 back then and I am 32 now. I have grown up a lot and I’ve had three children and I’ve gone through three labours! I won’t not finish the trials because my mindset will be very different this time around.

“When I went in the jungle the first time, I didn’t prepare at all. I didn’t have a clue what I had let myself in for and I cried even when my phone got taken off me after landing in Australia. I want to make my children proud when I take part this time.

“I am determined to try harder in the trials.“

Despite vowing to face up to her fears the second time around, she admits she may not be the best person to take on Trials. Although she may not have a choice as a twist to the spin-off sees camp mates compete for the right to remain in camp rather than earning food.

She added: “I want to go back on I’m A Celebrity to be a better version of myself. I want to do a lot better than the first time around and I want to give the Trials a go. I want to make myself proud.

“I am not saying I am going to go in and be a jungle warrior and be absolutely amazing because I will not. Yes I will be scared but I will have a go and I will be a lot better than last time.”

As well as Flanagan, the line up for the new series also includes Janice Dickinson, Fatima Whitbread, Paul Burrell, Phil Tuffnell, Jordan Banjo, Shaun Ryder, Amir Khan and Carol Vorderman. The show will once again be hosted by Ant and Dec.

I'm A Celebrity...South Africa starts Monday 24th April at 21.00 on ITV1 & ITVX.
