Rachel McAdams praised for 'minimally' retouched photos with armpit hair visible
Rachel McAdams has proudly shown off her body for a new interview, with her said to have requested that the photos only be "minimally" retouched.
The actor, 44, spoke about her aesthetic sensibilities in the interview whilst promoting her new film Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. - which will be released next week.
It comes following a photoshoot she did for Girls Girls Girls magazine in 2018, during which the then-mother-of-one posed for photos whilst expressing milk from her breasts.
Rachel - who has two young children with her partner Jamie Linden, 42 - has now commented: "I love that juxtaposition of beauty, glam, fantasy, and then truth".
The actor - who is best known for her roles in films like Mean Girls and the Notebook - made the remark during a new interview with Bustle and also posed for photos.
Hollywood's biggest roles that huge stars turned down - Titanic to SpeedThe magazine states that she requested the photos be "edited as minimally as possible" and she appears to be proudly showing her underarm hair in some of them.
And fans have been quick to praise the star for doing so. One user on Twitter wrote: "Love her, and also love appreciating bodies that age and expand regardless of whether they’ve had children or not."
Another added: "Love her for embracing her natural beauty!!!"
Rachel explained: "With this shoot, I'm wearing latex underwear. But I've had two children. This is my body, and I think that's so important to reflect back out to the world".
The award-winning actor further commented about beauty standards: "It's OK to look your best and work at it and be healthy, but that's different for everyone".
Rachel also spoke about dealing with fame, suggesting that it wasn't something she learned at theatre school. She added that there isn't a book on "how to navigate that".
She added during the interview that taking breaks from her career in the past has helped her feel "empowered" and allowed her to then come in "from a different doorway".
Later discussing a break from acting, she admitted that she "felt guilty" at the time for not taking advantage of the opportunity that she was being given with her career.
Rachel however said that such wasn't "quite jiving" with her and added that it has taken some time to understand what she was "intuitively" doing by taking a break.
