Nate Diaz boasts of beating Khabib and Khamzat Chimaev despite not fighting them

Nate Diaz has declared that he has wins over Khabib Nurmagomedov and Khamzat Chimaev, despite never having fought either of them during his UFC career.

The former lightweight title challenger last year left the promotion after a win over Tony Ferguson, having never won gold but still maintaining a massive star power due to his unique personality. He only ever fought for the belt once, losing to Benson Henderson, but has frequently claimed that he was the best fighter in the UFC.

And in a new tweet he has claimed that he went 3-0 against Chimaev, Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier on account of them pulling out of fights with him. He was due to face both Chimaev and Poirier, with the Swede missing weight by over half-a-stone and the American pulling out due to an injury, although he was never set to face Nurmagomedov.

"I’m 3-0 in the UFC against [Khamzat Chimaev], Khabib and Dustin Poirier [due] to them being scared p*****s," he wrote in his classic abrasive Twitter style, including an x-rated nickname for the Swedish fighter and a series of spelling mistakes. "Sleep with that."

Diaz is currently a free agent, and announced that he is launching his own fight promotion Real Fight Inc where he has suggested that former UFC heavyweight Ben Rothwell face Tyson Fury. He is also said to be in late stages of talks with Jake Paul over a fight deal between the pair that would see them box first and then compete in MMA.

Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov has completely retired from any involvement in MMA, where he had cornered Islam Makhachev to the lightweight title after retiring with the belt in 2020. He has given up his coaching role as well as his fighting career, and is planning to spend time out of the spotlight with his family.

Poirier is expected to return to the octagon soon as he continues pursuing a world title following two failed attempts at undisputed gold against Charles Oliveira and Nurmagomedov. He is a former interim champion, but lost his two efforts at the full title in 2019 and 2021.

Chimaev is also evaluating his options as he looks to consolidate his place as a top contender at either welterweight or middleweight. His miss ahead of fighting Diaz in September was his second major issue getting to 170lb during his UFC career, but he has less significant victories at middleweight and is ranked No.3 at welterweight.
