Jet2 flight forced to make emergency landing as passenger pees in front of kids

A Jet2 passenger has been banned for life after he allegedly peed inside the cabin and displayed "aggressive" and "disgraceful" behaviour on a flight to Tenerife.

The man caused major disruption with claims he urinated inside the cabin, scaring children and fellow passengers on the plane that had departed from Glasgow.

Now the airline has decided to ban the 55 year-old for life and warn him of a potential 'five figure' fine, reported GlasgowLive.

The disorderly behaviour forced an emergency landing, diverting holidaymakers to Faro Airport, where police offloaded the man.

A spokesperson for Jet2 alleged: "The man's behaviour included aggression, illicit consumption of alcohol, intimidation towards other customers and even children, suspected handling of illegal substances, and urinating inside the cabin.

"After he was offloaded, customers had to disembark the aircraft in Faro so that the aircraft could be cleaned before departing to Tenerife. As well as causing a delay to customers looking forward to their well-deserved holidays in Tenerife, this also meant customers due to travel back to Glasgow from Tenerife had to spend another night in destination due to the late arrival of the aircraft."

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays arranged overnight accommodation and refreshments for the affected customers, but the incident still caused major inconvenience for the fellow passengers and families on board.

The airline has confirmed that it will try to recover the cost the racked up as a result of the diversion, likely to be a five figure sum. These include hotel accommodation for all customers and crew, airport charges, fuel costs and cleaning costs.

Phil Ward, Managing Director of Jet2.com , said: "The man's behaviour was absolutely disgraceful, and we would like to apologise to all of our customers on board and colleagues who have been impacted or affected. As a family friendly airline, we take a zero tolerance approach to such behaviour and we would like to thank the Portuguese authorities for their assistance in offloading him."

He added: "As we have done before, we will now vigorously pursue the 55 year-old for all the costs that we incurred as a result of this diversion, as well as banning him for life. We have a very busy summer coming ahead and the safety and well-being of everyone on board our flights is paramount.

"This event should act as a stark warning to anyone who thinks that it might be acceptable to behave in an unacceptable manner onboard one of our flights. Thankfully, the overwhelming majority of customers enjoy their flights and continue to have a lovely holiday, and we will continue to work hard to provide our VIP customer service as always."
