Israel Adesanya believes controversial influencer and former kick-boxing world champion Andrew Tate can be of benefit to young men despite his recent arrest in Romania.

The social media star, who rose to prominence last year after hanging up the gloves long before, is one of a number of podcasters whom Adesanya feels can be good for men, who he feels are being "softened" by society. Tate is currently under house arrest having been released from prison amid an investigation into alleged human trafficking and forming an organised crime group. He and his brother Tristan deny the accusations made against them.

Adesanya is a known fan of podcasters within the online 'manosphere', taking a particularly keen interest in Jordan Peterson over the years. He has praised both Peterson and Tate in the past, and during a recent appearance claimed that the likes of Peterson, Tate and David Goggins can be a net positive for young men.

"Jordan [Peterson], Andrew [Tate], Dave Goggins, guys like that, they’re the ones who are really pushing men to be accountable as men,” Adesanya told the YouTube channel Braso in a new podcast appearance of his own. “The world right now is trying to soften us. What did they say?

"I think it was Jordan actually said how you were back in the day, if someone like the kings and what not wants to stop an uproar or an uprising, would kill all the fighting-age males. Children, can’t kill them right now so what do you do? You pussify them. Make them feel emasculated. Literally.”

Adesanya, who is known for his fashion sense which includes a keen interest in outlandish and cutting edge clothing, even painting his nails on occasion. But he is also one of the toughest fighters on the planet, and earlier this month knocked out Alex Pereira to become a two-time UFC middleweight champion.

This isn't the first time that he has been complimentary of Tate, telling Mirror Fighting last year ahead of his first UFC meeting with Pereira: "I didn't know him when he was kick-boxing. But there was a time maybe a few months ago, before he got 'cancelled' - you can't cancel anyone - when he just started to pop up on my Instagram and my Youtube and I was like, 'Who the f*** is this guy?'

"Then I was listening to guys like Andrew Schulz talk about the smart system he did. I'm paraphrasing, but he paid people to post or make pages about him and just flood the internet. If he created that marketing strategy, that's a genius way to get [out there] because he was on everybody's page. I never really followed his career as a kick-boxer, I don't know what he's doing now."
