Jamie Foxx 'doing a lot better' after suffering 'medical complication'

Jamie Foxx is in high spirits after he was hospitalised following a "medical complication".

The actor, 55, is said to be well on the road to recovery and hasn't let the health scare dampen his sense of humour.

On Wednesday evening Jamie's daughter, Corinne took to Instagram to update fans on Jamie's condition: "We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday."

"Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time."

In a recent update, sources have told TMZ that Jamie is "doing a lot better," and is said to be cracking jokes with his family.

Although, the publication says that doctors are yet to get to the bottom of what happened to him and they are currently doing tests.

Jamie was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, and TMZ stated that the case was "serious enough" for his family to be called - some of whom were out of town.

On Wednesday, Corinne said that her dad received "great care" and was on the mend.

Jamie was in Atlanta shooting Back in Action, a Netflix comedy which co-stars Cameron Diaz.

It marks Cameron's first return to a film role in nearly 10 years.

The film also stars Andrew Scott Jamie Demetriou and is directed by Seth Gordon, who Jamie worked on Horrible Bosses.

In 2005, Jamie won best actor at the Oscars for his role as Ray Charles in the biopic, Ray.

He's also starred in Django Unchained, Annie, Jarhead and the Spider-Man franchise.

LeBron James sent well wishes on Twitter after hearing the news.

He wrote: "Sending my thoughts and prayers to the heavens above to my brother @iamjamiefoxx!!!! Get well and back to yourself SOONER THAN LATER! God willing."

Kerry Washington, who starred alongside Jamie in the biopic, also paid tribute to the star: "A Jamie Foxx appreciation post. Sending you all the love and prayers my movie huzbin."

Viola Davis also shared a get well soon message for Jamie: "'Get well @iamjamiefoxx. We need you... your light, your brilliance."

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais wrote: "This an appreciation post for my friend @iamjamiefoxx. J I love you so much !!! I want & need you to get better soon. Sending you light love and prayers".
