FREETHINKER (5.05) can outsmart his rivals in the Cazoo Handicap Hurdle at Southwell.

The seven-year-old is lightly raced, and it took him until his tenth outing to score his first win.

It was the addition of a tongue tie that unlocked the winning formula in a Newcastle handicap in February, and he repeated the feat a month later at the same course.

The form that day was franked by the third and fourth home, who both won next time out.

Charlie Longsdon’s gelding has an extra 4lb to carry, but that should not stop his hat-trick bid.

MOJO STAR (3.55) is taken to thwart Trueshan in the listed Barry Hills Further Flight Stakes over one mile and six furlongs.

Richard Hannon’s five-year-old was last seen giving Kyprios a good run for his money in the Ascot Gold Cup at the royal meeting last June, finishing a half length behind in second.

That had been his first run in 256 days, having previously finished runner-up in both the Cazoo Derby and the St Leger the previous year.

He is a class horse, and while the going at Nottingham will suit his rival, we know he can run well after a long absence and on similar ground.
