Jack Black has announced the cast of School of Rock will reunite to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary.

The hugely popular musical comedy was released back in 2003 and featured a number of stars including a 10-year-old Miranda Cosgrove, Sarah Silverman, Joan Cusack and Mike White.

Comedian Jack, now 53, starred in the film as beloved substitute music teacher Dewey Finn.

"We're gonna get together and have a 20-year anniversary. We like to jam. I'm looking forward to seeing all of the grownups from 'School of Rock," the star said.

He added: "All those kids, dig this, they were 10 years old when we made that movie and now they're all, like, 30."

Jack said the reunion will be documented on social media in the form of clips and pictures, as he told Entertainment Tonight that he will "100%" post plenty of content from the special celebration.

The entire cast of School of Rock previously reunited to honour the film's 10th anniversary back in 2013.

There was a mini reunion in 2019, but many of the main stars were absent.

Jack has previously said some of his best memories are working with the children in the film.

"My best memories are just that group of kids, and how funny and great they were," he told the publication back in 2022.

The Hollywood star also said that the musical comedy is the film he is "most proud of" in his decades long career.

Speaking to GQ in 2019, he said: "'It was just lightning in a bottle. It's the only time I've felt that I was meant to do something."

School of Rock was written by White Lotus creator Mike White who previously admitted it was inspired by Jack.

"Had he not wanted to do it, I probably would have thrown the script away. It was so inspired by just knowing him that I wouldn't want to see anyone else do it," he said during a 2003 interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Mike had been impressed by Jack after he starred in the 2002 film Orange County.

"I just had this image in my head of him jamming with a bunch of little kids, and while I was kind of afraid of what the Paramount version of that could be, I couldn't shake the idea. So I just wrote it," Mike said.
