Dog walker fights off 6ft man who 'pulled her to the ground' on country lane

A woman who was walking her dog bravely fought off a six-foot-tall man after being attacked on a country lane last week.

The victim was walking her pet when an unknown man approached her and pulled her to the ground on the lane that starts near the A174 opposite Cowbar Lane and runs down to Ridge Lane in Staithes, North Yorkshire.

She suffered minor injuries but fought off the suspect and managed to ran back up the lane towards the A174, reports Teesside Live.

It is believed the attacker received a small cut to his head during the incident that happened between 8.30am and 8am on Friday, March 31.

The man is described as white, aged in his late 20s, with a slim build, short stubble on his face, and short-styled brown hair.

He was wearing a blue waist-length jacket with a collar and blue jeans.

North Yorkshire Police said in a statement: "We're appealing for witnesses and information about an assault on a dog walker near Dale House at Staithes.

"It happened between 8.30am to 9am on Friday (31 March 2023) on the lane which starts near to the A174 opposite Cowbar Lane and runs down to Ridge Lane between 8.30am to 9am on Friday (31 March 2023).

"A woman walking her dog was approached from behind by an unknown man who pulled her to the ground.

"The woman bravely fought off the suspect and he fled back up the lane towards the A174 Cowbar Lane area.

"The victim sustained minor injuries because of the assault.

"The suspect is described as white, aged in his late 20s, about 6ft tall, slim build, with short stubble on his face, short styled brown hair. He was wearing a blue waist-length jacket with a collar and blue jeans.

"It is thought that suspect received a small cut to the top of his head during the incident.
