Hollywood stars Kate Bosworth and Justin Long are engaged, with the pair revealing Justin's sweet proposal.

It was confirmed at the start of 2022 that the Dodgeball star, 44, and Kate, 40, were dating after meeting on a film set, and now the pair are set to tie the knot, revealing the news on Justin's podcast.

Blue Crush star Kate said Justin proposed after the pair had gone to therapy, while Justin said he initially planned on popping the question on her fortieth birthday, but things changed.

Justin, who previously dated Drew Barrymore between 2007 and 2010, said: "I did have a special thing planned around your birthday and about a month before that, life, like we were talking about, things change.

Kate, speaking on Justin's Life's Short podcast, said: "We had just gone through this really hard thing and we had spoken to a therapist and we were trying to move through things at the time and she gave us a really great piece of advice which was: Make sure that you're pretty consistently asking the other what you need, or asking the other what they need."

The Straw Dogs star went on: "I remember waking up not so many mornings after that therapy session and I looked at Justin and I said…I remember, I smiled at you, and I said, 'What do you need?'"

"And he, like, really looked at me and he said, 'To spend my life with you.' And I smiled and I said, 'Well, yeah, you have that. Oh my gosh, you have that,' and he said, 'No, I mean I really want to spend my life with you,'" Kate explained.

Justin, who recently appeared in horror film Barbarian, told listeners: "It was the easiest…the words just came out, like, so naturally."

Kate added: "I thought it was the most romantic and honest and loving proposal."

Today Kate announced her engagement on Instagram, using references to classic romantic comedies the pair have appeared in, and sharing a clutch of sweet photos of candid moments.

The star, who dated Orlando Bloom between 2002 and 2005, said: "These things are funny to announce. How to do this right? He’s going the distance?
