Conor McGregor hints at WWE switch and vows to break manager's jaw after claim

Conor McGregor has hinted at a WWE switch before threatening to break Paul Heyman's jaw after the manager's online criticism.

McGregor has become the UFC's biggest superstar given his brash-talking antics and bold personality which saw him build his profile alongside his career in the cage where he became a two-division champion. The Irishman also fought in a high-profile boxing match with Floyd Mayweather which saw his persona expand further, and sees him carry the biggest pay-per-view draw in MMA.

It is expected that the Irishman will return to the cage this year after it was announced he will take on Michael Chandler in his comeback fight as part of the UFC's latest series of The Ultimate Fighter. However he has teased a potential switch to the high-profile wrestling promotion during the second night of their hallmark Wrestlemania event.

He tweeted an edited picture of himself carrying both the UFC and WWE titles at the same time, with the caption: "#itsinevitable." His social media hint came after it was revealed that both promotions could be merging in a lucrative deal from the UFC's parent company Endeavour to capture the WWE.

Roman Reigns, who appeared in last night's show beating Cody Rhodes to retain the WWE universal title, is managed by Heyman who was quick to respond to McGregor's plan. He added: "@TheNotoriousMMA is a @WWERomanReigns wannabe!" This left McGregor angered and he snapped back.

He concluded: "Careful Grandpa. I’ll show up and break your jaw in 3 places." This is not the first time McGregor has hinted at a potential future in the WWE having called out the entire roster during an outburst in 2016.

He said: “I have thought about [WWE]. For the most part, I think these guys are p***ies, to be honest. They’re messed up p****** if you ask me. Fair play to Brock [Lesnar]; he got in and fought, but at the end of the day, he was juiced up to the f***ing eyeballs. How can I respect that? The other guy [CM Punk] hasn’t fought yet, so I don’t know about him yet.”

He later added: "I didn't mean no disrespect to the WWE fans. What I meant to say was that I'd slap the head off your entire roster. And twice on Sundays." McGregor has suffered a significant decline in the form in the UFC but is currently only focused on a comeback in the octagon.

Brock Lesnar is the only WWE star to successfully crossover to MMA, but McGregor could become the latest to move the other way if a move was negotiated. However he currently has two fights on his remaining deal with the UFC and is expected to make a play for the title at 170lb currently held by Leon Edwards.
