Finding that you don't enjoy your job or feel valued in your role can bring out the petty side of some people.

Perhaps you've stopped offering to make tea or coffee for your colleagues and only make yourself a drink, or you refuse to make small talk with your colleagues.

One man has found a petty way to get his own back on his 'badgering' boss whenever there is a deadline looming for a report.

Taking to Reddit's Casual UK forum, the unnamed employee told how his boss would always pester him ahead of a deadline and as such, he would wait right up until that deadline to turn in the work - regardless of how early he had completed it.

His post reads: "What's the pettiest thing you do on a regular basis?

"For me it's handing in reports just before their deadline, regardless of when I finished them.

"My line manager badgers us way before a deadline looms then tries to micromanage everything.

"I've never missed a deadline, never will. But it's either a deadline or it's not."

More than 500 people have since responded to the post, with some praising the man's pettiness and others sharing their own small acts of personal revenge.

One person replied: "Sensible. Hand them in any sooner and you create a new target for yourself to hit next time."

Another said: "Scotty from Star Trek taught me this lesson early in life; If something takes an hour, tell 'em it’'l take 2, and look like a miracle worker when you give it to them in 90 minutes."

Someone else admitted: "I regularly sit in my car for 5-10 minutes in the morning and walk in exactly o time even though I'm always early.

"I drive a lot for work and my finish time can vary up to half an hour after I'm supposed to finish depending on the traffic. I reckoned it never made a difference because sometimes you're back early and it all sort of evens out and never bothered tracking it. A couple of weeks ago my manager called me up because I got back to work 10 minutes early and she wanted to dock 10 minutes pay.

"You better believe I stopped coming in 5 minutes early and I've started noting down even 1 extra minute on my time sheet. It's incredibly petty but I'm very pleased with myself."

A different user added: "You know those gobs****s that interview you for a job and then you never hear from them again? Everyone that's done that to me over the years gets an email on the anniversary of the interview asking if there's any update."
