The Premier League is back for the first time in over a fortnight when Manchester City host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola's men can pile the pressure back on leaders Arsenal with a win against the Reds as they chase their fifth title in six years. City currently sit eight points behind the Gunners but do have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will be hoping to close the gap on Tottenham in the race for a Champions League spot. They are seven points behind Spurs at the moment but do have two games in hand.

It is poised to be an entertaining end to the Premier League campaign, with City and Liverpool both competing for different objectives. This time last year, both were battling for the title - but their fortunes have changed slightly.

When is Man City vs Liverpool?

The game will get underway at 12:30pm on Saturday, April 1.

City last met Liverpool back in December when they ran out 3-2 winners in the Carabao Cup last-16. Erling Haaland, Riyad Mahrez and Nathan Ake all struck for Guardiola's side in their first game after the World Cup.

Meanwhile, the most previous meeting in the Premier League was in October as Jurgen Klopp's side earned a surprise 1-0 win. City had been unbeatable up until that point but the Reds sprang a shock at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah scoring the winner.

Their last league meeting at the Etihad came in April 2022 when they played out a 2-2 draw. It was a result that ended up being more important to City in the end as they pipped Liverpool to the title.

Team news

Phil Foden will miss the game against Liverpool after he underwent surgery in London for acute appendicitis. The 22-year-old was expected to play in England's game against Ukraine but went under the knife on Sunday after falling ill.

Erling Haaland, meanwhile, is a major doubt for the clash as he didn't feature in training on Thursday and it is unclear whether the Norwegian will be fit and available to face Liverpool.

As for Liverpool, Luis Diaz could make a return against City after missing almost six months with a knee issue. However, Thiago is almost certainly going to miss out, while Joe Gomez and Darwin Nunez are fit.
