Bride's horror as wedding dress so long 'she can't walk' – with no time to alter

A woman who is about to get married is feeling the pressure, as her wedding dress is so long she can barely walk – but there's barely any time to get the garment altered.

With just four days to go until she ties the knot, the woman has tried a few places to get it altered but none have said they can get it done in time.

The dress feels nice when she wears it, but feels it's far too long, so she needs to come up with a plan to keep it off the floor when she walks.

Taking her worries to parenting forum Mumsnet, the woman explained she was looking for advice on what else she can do.

The bride-to-be, who remained anonymous, wrote: "Getting married in a small ceremony this weekend, just me and my partner and four family members, I've got a dress, long white, feels nice on, but it's too long, even with heels.

'My sister tried to wear a wedding dress to my engagement party - I got revenge'

"It's far too late to get it altered, any genius ideas on how I can hold it off the floor so I can actually walk? I've tried Googling and cannot find an idea I can make work in the space of four days.

"Cannot sew to save my life. Cannot afford another dress. Feel really bloody stupid now."

In response, many flooded the comments with ideas on what the woman could do, with many suggesting she should keep trying places to get it altered.

One person wrote: "Are you sure you can't get it altered? If it's just the length at the front it might be quite a simple job for a local alterations place or dressmaker. I'd definitely ring round a few places and ask."

While another stated: "Have you asked on a local Facebook group? There might be someone who can do it that's not a professional."

A third penned: "Agree, Facebook plea for a local seamstress, curtain maker etc. Anyone who's a dab hand with a sewing machine?"

"Also look for local tailors too, I've had dresses altered by a tailor before," somebody else noted.
