Actor Elijah Wood has revealed he has become a dad again after partner Mette-Marie Kongsved gave birth to their baby daughter.

The Lord of the Rings star, 42, and his Danish partner had kept the youngster's arrival private for a number of months before Elijah announced the news.

His surprise revelation came as he detailed how he usually begins his day.

Speaking in his Monday Morning profile the actor told how he is an early riser due to having two little children.

This is the first time the actor has spoken openly about the arrival of his and Mette-Marie's second child.

He told the publication : "'[We have a] three-year-old son [Evan] and a 14-month-old daughter, and she wakes us up pretty early."

But he confessed he doesn't mind the early mornings, admitting he likes "starting the day".

And he later revealed to the publication that in parenting you are "constantly being challenged, in the best way.

"It's as much my own personal growth as it is about my child's growth," he added.

Elijah and Mette-Marie decided to keep quiet about their first child too but didn't hold out quite as long the first time around.

The Hollywood star had appeared on the Late Night show at the time and told Seth Meyers he found out his partner was pregnant on Christmas Eve 2018.

It left viewers working out the timeline of her pregnancy, which revealed the pair managed to stay quiet for several months.

It's reported that Elijah and Mette-Marie, 31, met in April 2016 on the set of Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore.

Mette-Marie was a producer on the Netflix hit, while Elijah starred in the production.

She's also been the producer on a number of other films starring her man, including Mandy in 2018, Come to Daddy in 2019 and the upcoming adventure titled Bookworm.

While Elijah has amassed an impressive 2.9 million followers on social media, he confessed he has a separate private account on Instagram in which he shares more images of his family.

He explained: "I wanted to be able to share photos that I didn't necessarily want to share with the world.

"An account that's public-facing would really change what I share. It's not like I'm sharing anything that I wouldn't want to go out, but I'm a relatively private person."
