McDonald's fans go wild over return of nostalgic freebie coming next week

Calling all McDonald's fans: the fast-food chain has announced the return of an iconic freebie that you can get your hands on from as early as next week.

Starting on March 29, McDonald's will bring back the much-loved Coca-Cola drinking glasses as part of the recently announced Winning Sips game, which comes to all stores next week.

Winning Sips will see stickers available on medium and large soft drinks and milkshakes, and will work in a similar way to the McDonald's Monopoly game, in that customers will peel the stickers off to see if they've won an instant prize, or a code that you can put into the app.

Alongside the iconic Coca-Cola glasses, food fans can also bag cash, free food, and other exclusive Maccies merch.

To get your hands on a Coca-Cola glass specifically, you'll need to download the McDonald's app and play your game pieces by scanning the code on the sticker, which will tell you if you've won a prize.

Unlike the Monopoly game, you don't need to collect stickers, and there are no Winning Sips stickers on food items.

To make the game fair for everyone, you'll be limited to entering just eight codes into the McDonald's app, so there's no point wasting money on dozens of drinks.

If Coca-Cola glasses don't take your fancy, you could win yourself up to £10,000 in cash, as well as other McDonald's merch including socks, towels, and bucket hats.

But it's the iconic glasses that have people talking on social media, with people determined to collect every colour available.

One person said: "I loved collecting the cups back in my days, I can't wait till they come back again."

While another added: "You know how I'm competitive - we HAVE to get every colour."

And someone else posted: "Still got the originals from many years ago."

You have to be over 18 to enter the Winning Sips game, and customers will have until May 9, 2023 to claim their free prizes.

Maccies fans worried this is replacing the popular Monopoly promotion don't need to worry, as it's still coming "later in the year", although they have not confirmed a date.

Last year the competition ran from September to October 2022, and it was the same sort of time in 2021.
