Girl, 12, stabbed to death 'with nail file by two classmates in row over boy'

The 12-year-old German girl butchered by her friends last week was repeatedly stabbed with a nail file after they lured her into the woods over a row about a boy, it has been claimed.

The youngster - identified only as Luise F. by German prosecutors - was knifed 32 times before they left her for dead in woodland near Freudenberg.

Though a definite motive is yet to be revealed, it has been reported that it may have been due to a spat over a boy, or as a result of one of the girls mocking the perpetrators' family.

When Luise didn't return home after visiting one of the suspects on March 11, her parents reported her missing and a huge search operation was launched.

Drones, cadaver dogs and a helicopter combed the area to find the girl's body, which was eventually discovered dumped close to a cycling path in a patch of forest.

Both suspects, who are aged 12 and 13 and went to the same school as Luise, confessed to the killing after her body was found.

Koblenz prosecutor Mario Mannweiler explained: "This is of course a very unusual and shocking act, even for us."

It took an additional search for cops to track down the murder weapon, which they said was a nail file that had been plunged into Luise's body 32 times.

After the stabbing she was thrown off a steep bank and left for dead as temperatures hovered around zero.

According to the Daily Mail, the killers also put a plastic bag over her head.

One of the pair told the other to "hit her with a stone or she would be lying next to her", it has been claimed.

There has also been speculation as to whether the young girl was still alive when she was thrown down the embankment.

An investigating source said: "The act itself was terrible. Experienced officers who have been involved in many homicide cases have been left shocked by the murder.

"Not only by the age of the victim but also the age of the suspects - the murder weapon has yet to be found and although initially we thought it may be a knife we now suspect it may be a nail file."

Writing in their local newspaper, her grief-wracked parents said: "There are no words to conceive of the inconceivable. For us the world stands still.
