Tesco shoppers shared their fury at the “unbelievable” price for Heinze ketchup in stores.

Earlier this year it was reported Heinz has doubled the price of some products in just a year as the cost of living crisis continues to hit shoppers.

As part of the changes, the nation's favourite tomato ketchup - the 910g bottle - rose in price 60% from £2.49 to £3.99, according to .

The amount is considerably higher than November last year, where prices of Heinz tomato ketchup were £3.50 from Asda and Sainsbury's.

However, it has now been dwarfed by the “extortionate” £4.40 spotted in some Tesco stores recently by dumbfounded customers wanting to add a splash of tomato to their dinners.

Another added: “Tomatogeddon 2023, like cocaine, if you can afford to pay this for ketchup you have too much money.”

Another fumed: “£4.40 for Heinz Ketchup yesterday from Tesco!”

Another said: “I saw a bottle of ketchup in Tesco for £4.50…what happened to the Tesco standing up to the price gougers?”

One more prodded: “I used to spend £2 on Bisto Best. It’s now £4+. Ketchup £4. Own brand cat food has doubled to £4.90 for only 6 cans-used to get 12 for £5.

“Chicken breast £3.75 now £6+. It’s unsustainable, unaffordable and terrifying.”

One person revealed they had popped into a store to pick up ketchup, apples and peanut butter and had to part with more than £8.
