Iconic nineties girl group B*Witched are making a comeback to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

The Irish pop sensations will release their first new music in almost a decade - just in time for St Patrick's Day.

Best known for their number one hit C'est La Vie, the group's new single Birthday will be out this Friday.

Twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou and Sinéad O'Carroll are ready to take on the UK charts again but this time at a slower pace.

B*Witched managed to bag four number one hits during their pop star days.

“There’s more space to enjoy it now. The industry was so huge then, it was non-stop. We would work 16 or 17 hours a day and just be constantly on the phone," Lindsay told The Sun.

“I think that’s why a lot of the groups at the time had a shelf life of a few years, because with that level of intensity it’s very hard to sustain it. You reach burnout."

The group formed in 1997 where they gained worldwide success with two albums.

Their first four singles, C'est la Vie, Rollercoaster, To You I Belong and Blame It on the Weatherman, all reached number one in the UK Singles Chart.

Yet despite selling over 3 million albums, the group were dropped by their record company in 2002.

Edele added: “It’s indicative of how the industry was. We were dropped after selling an unbelievable amount of records that are really difficult to sell now. People don’t sell a tenth of it and still have hits and careers. But it’s just how it was.”

Over decade later, B*Witched reunited as part of the the ITV2 reality-documentary series The Big Reunion.

The show followed six groups, including Five, Atomic Kitten and Liberty X as they rehearsed for a comeback performance at the Hammersmith Apollo on 26 February 2013.

The success of the show led to the bands embarking on a UK arena tour.

Now, the band are back with a new sound and are expected to release more music.

Keavy said: “You’ll hear lots of new songs. You won’t be able to get away from us by the end of the year.”

All members are now mums so are juggling a lot more commitments than the first time around.

Lindsay recently showed off her acting skills in Netflix's popular series Stay Close, much to fans surprise.

Following her departure from B*Witched, she began to take acting lessons at The Poor School in London.
