BBC's Call the Midwife fans have been waved farewell for now to their favourite on-screen characters as the latest series came to a close.

Viewers tuned in to see nurse Trixie and Matthew's wedding on Sunday February 26th and were thrilled to see Sister Monica Joan had fought her way back to health to oversea the nuptials.

But the episode wrapping up the 12th series wasn't without tragedy as a heavily pregnant mother is involved in a car crash offering up a 'rollercoaster' of emotion for the series finale.

Although the mother couldn't be saved, Dr Turner headed to the scene and with the help of wife Shelagh, he performed a C-section at the accident scene.

The show, which airs on a Sunday's is now off air, but will be returning for 'at least two more seasons, and the the Christmas special.

The slot will be filled by a familiar favourite as Antiques Roadshow returns to take viewers on a different trip to times gone by as they are tasked with treasured items long forgotten.

Sunday's episode of Antiques Roadshow will feature the Queen Consort's visit to the Eden Project to discuss charity project The Big Lunch.

And fans of Call The Midwife actress Helen George has currently undergone a transformation as she shared to Instagram her new look.

She is currently starring in a tour of , and described the theatre as her "first love".

"Theatre is my first love, and I am so excited to be returning to the stage for this beautiful, majestic production of The King and I ," she shared.

But she also appeared on This Morning sofa earlier this year when she told Dermott O'Leary and Alison Hammond and shared an 'awful audition' hadn't always gone to plan.

She said: "I've done a lot of auditions in my time,"

"I remember auditioning for I think it was Mamma Mia, I think it was the film, and there was a very scary dance studio…

"It was a really hot day, they left the doors open and I literally pirouetted out of the room, I just pirouetted myself out of a job!"
