Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney isn't happy with superstar forward Javier 'Chicaharito' Hernandez after the former Manchester United man revealed his injury timeline during a twitch stream.

Hernandez, who is entering into his fourth full year with the Galaxy, was ruled out of the team's opening game against LAFC last week after tweaking a hamstring issue in training. He was later absent from training while he recovered, only for the game itself to be postponed due to weather.

The Mexico international, who occupies a Designated Player slot on the Galaxy's roster, later took to Twitch and discussed his injury, claiming it looks like he'll be missing for between 2-5 weeks.

And Vanney isn't too happy about that information being released by the player himself, as he claimed the club was preparing to make the announcement themselves.

Speaking on Wednesday ahead of the Galaxy's new season opener against FC Dallas this weekend, Vanney said: "It matters. For us, things like that are internal and for club release. That’s been shared (with Chicharito). Players sometimes want to get out in front of it and want their fans to know how they're doing.

"But ultimately there’s a time and a place to give that information. It's also about the opposition, game management, game prep, all those kinds of things. There's a lot of things. It's not earth-shattering but in different situations this could be really important information that you give to the opposition, and you don't want to do that all the time, that's for sure."

Vanney went on to give a further update on Hernandez's situation, downplaying fears he will be out for five weeks. Instead, he suggested that the forward will be reevaluated by medical staff in about 10 days, giving the team hope he could return by the end of the month.

Vanney said: "With Javier, he's in the treatment phase, then he's gotta go through 'return to play'. I don't know exactly... 2-5 weeks is a long range. Our anticipation with the grade 1 hamstring strain is 10 days to a couple of weeks.

"Then we'll see with return to play how long it takes him to get back into maximum fitness and do all the things he needs to do for a match performance. I don't know if that's two weeks or four weeks, right now he's still in the treatment phase."
