Birthdays should undoubtedly be filled with treats and fun, but sometimes these can come at a big expense - especially if you've got a full day out planned.

Luckily for anyone hoping to save some money you can grab plenty of food from well known brands without spending a penny, just because it's your birthday!

Savvy shoppers could get lunch and dinner for free with sweet treats in between, including a slice of birthday cake by visiting Costa, Greggs, and loads of other high street food chains.

TikToker @thelifeofhadia took followers with her as she ventured out on her birthday to scoop up some winning freebies.

Most of these deals require you to be signed up to their apps or at least bring in an ID to prove your birthday date, so make sure you're prepared before you go deal hunting.

Greggs is up first in Hadia's video, where she took home a free doughnut and an extra free muffin because "the voucher went through twice".

By signing up to the Greggs app, you will get a voucher for any sweet treat of your choice on your birthday. The app also gives you freebies if you buy a certain number of pastries, sandwiches or drinks - a perfect way to get the odd free breakfast if Greggs is your morning go-to.

Taking her two freebies, Hadia moved onto Chopstix for a main meal and got a free small box with a choice of bases and toppings by showing her ID.

The Chopstix website says this can be claimed within a week of your birthday so if you've got lunch plans you can still get some free noodles. This one doesn't require the app but if you do download it you'll also be treated to five free spring rolls.

If you missed out on a doughnut from Greggs, head to Krispy Kreme as you can grab a free doughnut of your choice, including the fancy ones.

Once again this is an app only offer so you need to be signed up to get the voucher, rather than just showing your ID. For any that need the app, it's best to sign up a few days in advance to make sure you get your freebies.

Hadia headed to BarBurrito after this to get herself a "free burrito with everything included", this one is a little limited as BarBurrito isn't that common in the UK but if there's one near you just download the app to redeem this offer.

Rounding off her TikTok, Hadia visited Costa and got herself a free cake of her choosing, again this requires you to be signed up to Costa Club.

The only offer Hadia used that required any spending was at Hotel Chocolat, where birthday customers can get a £5 voucher - but the catch is you have to spend more than the voucher is worth.

However, the savvy birthday girl got around this by purchasing an 80p biscuit to get her £5 worth of chocolates for free.

These are just a few of the places that offer free birthday treats, most chains will give you a meal or a treat just because it's your birthday. If you're planning to go out on your big day, check out if your chosen eatery has anything free to offer - you might be surprised.
