Arsenal transfer live updates as Jorginho move close and loan exits possible

Arsenal have made two signings so far this month - and Mikel Arteta isn't done just yet.

Leandro Trossard signed from Brighton in a £27million deal, while the Gunners parted with £21m to prise Jakub Kiwior away from Spezia. With Arsenal sitting top of the Premier League, you'd think Arteta wouldn't want to risk juggling around with his squad too much.

However, the Spaniard is keen on making a huge statement signing on deadline day, with the club heavily linked with a move for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo. The player is keen on making the move but, so far, the Seagulls have stood firm and are understood to be demanding £90m to sell their star man, which has led Arsenal to Chelsea's Jorginho, who is edging towards a sensational switch after a fee was agreed.

There could be several outgoings as well, including Albert Sambi Lokonga and Cedric Soares. Keep up to date with all the deadline day updates as they happen right here on Mirror Football...

Arsenal ignore Jorginho warning

Jamie Carragher previously tore into Arsenal for signing 'Chelsea rejects' with their deadline day move for Jorginho having already been given a scathing assessment.

Arsenal have regularly turned to Stamford Bridge to add to their squad, with the likes of David Luiz, Willian and Petr Cech all making the move over recent seasons. In the end, the trio were all severely underwhelming signings.

Speaking in 2021 Sky Sports’ The Overlap Fan Debate, the former defender said: “When you’re talking about Edu as sporting director, you’re bringing David Luiz in and you’re bringing Willian in – two rejects from Chelsea. I’m just scratching my head thinking, ‘I can’t get behind this, it’s wrong, it doesn’t work’.

Lokonga has struggled to make an impact at Arsenal since joining from Anderlecht in the summer of 2021. Mikel Arteta is keen for the 23-year-old to get more game time, but needed to wait until they had a deal lined up for a central midfielder.

With Jorginho's arrival imminent, Lokonga has been given the green light to join Palace until the end of the season. He is undergoing a medical this afternoon.
