Lady Michelle Mone OBE is refusing to respond to Carol Vorderman who recently unleashed a scathing attack against her former friend, months after their friendship reportedly ended.

It comes just hours after Vorderman, 62, appeared on This Morning before instructing the businesswoman to "sue" her, after claiming she should be jailed.

Former Countdown host Carol claimed that Michelle had made millions out of a government PPE contract – something she strongly denies.

Now, a source close to Baroness Mone, 51, has hit out at Vorderman, branding her "publicity-hungry" following her comments.

Speaking to The Mirror, a source said: "Baroness Mone will not be commenting on this publicity-hungry person."

They also slapped down Vorderman’s claim the peer and her husband Doug Barrowman paid for a super yacht and a private jet with money from the PPE contracts.

Carol has been relatively tight-lipped about her relationship with Mone until her stint on Ths Morning and claimed she ended their friendship after discovering Michelle's true colours.

She said: "I cannot talk about useless PPE without also talking about Michelle Mone who was brought into the House of Lords, as a baroness, by David Cameron.

"We know she has taken leave of absence without losing the Tory whip to start with because she was actively involved, as it goes, with a company called PPE Medpro."

Carol continued: "Now Michelle Mone, I knew, many years ago and then dropped her like a stone as soon as I realised what kind of person she was," before looking at the camera and commenting: "Sue me, Michelle."

But host Alison Hammond was quick to attempt to shut Carol down, explaining that Michelle wasn't able to defend herself against the comments.

"No she's not here to defend herself but I'm repeating what has been said in the press," claimed Carol before saying that Michelle should be "slammed in jail where she belongs".

Michelle has been accused of "extraordinarily aggressive" lobbying in an excerpt of former Health Secretary, Matt Hancock's book, Pandemic Diaries.

PPE Medpro was awarded a £200 million contract in May 2020 in order to produce medical gowns which were later believed to have not been the "correct quality standards and specification".

But Michelle "completely refutes" any allegations of wrongdoing on hers and her husband, Douglas Barrowman's part in PPE Mepro.
