A young boy has been left with scaly skin like a snake due to a rare condition.

Namith oif Trivandrum suffers from lamellar ichthyosis which affects just one in 300,000 kids.

The 12-year-old’s skin grows too fast, dries out and then sheds, similar to a snake - it also has a scaly pattern to it as well.

Sufferers have to bathe frequently during the day and apply lots of moisturisers just to relieve the symptoms.

But brave Namith has a powerful voice and hopes his appearance won’t affect his dream of being a singer.

Namith is also a happy child who is a source of inspiration for many people, according to his dad.

The father said that Namith faces many daily problems because of his condition, but he feels very proud of his son.

Namith's father said there is no cure for his condition either.

The young lad reportedly suffers in high temperatures when his skin becomes itchier than normal.

Because there is no cure for his condition, his father, Prabhakar Pradhan, who works as a labourer in a paddy field, can not afford the cost of his son's treatment.

He then said: "My son has suffered this disease since childhood, and there is no cure for it.

"I do not have enough money to take him for a treatment and my heart breaks seeing him suffer with this cursed disease every day."
