Bradley Walsh briefly paused his interview on BBC's The One Show to address his son Barney's absence.

The star, 62, appeared on the show on Tuesday night to discuss ITV1's Breaking Dad, in which he appears in with his son.

However, his 25-year-old son was nowhere in sight and Bradley had to halt the chat to explain the reason behind it.

"I’m sorry he’s not here and he sends his apologies but he’s actually filming something, drama-wise, and he’s on location," Bradley explained.

He added: "Trying to get him to come on the road with me is a task now. It used to be the other way around."

During the interview, Bradley added that he and his son are now 'closer' thanks to the road trip series.

"Barney himself has received letters and emails saying that, ‘Through your show, I’ve reconnected with my mum or dad and now we’re going to go on a holiday together'," he said.

"I always say that if we’ve only ever made one person reconnect with their family then we’ve cracked it.

"What a thing to be able to do."

Breaking Dad already has four series as well as a Christmas special, all of which are narrated by Alexander Armstrong.

The father-son duo have travelled through Los Angeles, Arizona, Germany, Slovenia, Iceland, Mexico and more.

Bradley and Barney have been busy filming for their projects and the former recently cleared up rumours that The Larkins was axed due to low viewing figures.

At the beginning of January, it was reported that The Larkins faced the axe amid a rating slump and the departure of star Sabrina Bartlett.

An insider claimed "the writing is on the wall" for the latest adaptation of the classic novel The Darling Buds of May.

Bradley, who played Pop Larkin on the show, appeared on This Morning recently and explained the real reason the show is facing the axe.

Speaking toHolly Willoughbyand Phillip Schofield, he said: "It's a 14-week shoot, and I haven't got time to do that this year.

"I actually don't have 14 weeks so it's down to me not anything else. We're trying to, at this moment, get something together where we can do a special and I know Simon Nye is working on that right now."
