Apple urgently changes update system over AI-powered cyberattack threat

Apple has urgently released a series of security updates and announced changes to how it delivers software patches as cyber threats driven by artificial intelligence continue to grow.

The company said some security fixes will now be released separately from major iOS updates and rolled out much earlier than previously planned.

Apple explained that advances in artificial intelligence have significantly reduced the amount of time attackers need to exploit newly discovered vulnerabilities. As a result, the company has decided to accelerate the delivery of critical security patches to users.

However, Apple stressed that there is currently no evidence that any of the newly addressed vulnerabilities have been actively exploited in real-world attacks.

Previously, Apple typically bundled security fixes into major iOS releases. Under the new approach, some security updates will be issued independently and on a much faster schedule.
