Tourists visit UK's smallest home - and complain 'it's too small' on Tripadvisor

People visiting the smallest house in the UK have been left disappointed by the attraction — complaining about its tiny size and that there's "not much to see".

The Smallest House, located in Conwy, North Wales, features just two rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, and has been Britain's smallest house for 100 years.

As its namesake suggests, the small property measures just 72 inches wide and 122 inches high.

Tourists can pay £1.50 to visit the tiny home, which is open six months a year, but some don't think it's worth the fee.

Over the years reviewers have expressed their disappointment about the lack of facilities and the short time it takes to see the property, the Daily Mail reports.

One TripAdvisor reviewer complained there was "not a lot to see" and that you "couldn't spend more than half an hour there".

Another wrote: "It is just a shed they're trying to big up".

One tourist was begrudged to not be able to fit in the tiny house, they called it a "coal shed painted red", adding: "We didn't go in, but....from looking at it from the outside, we wouldn't have both fitted anyway."

Rating the attraction a measly two stars, another reviewer complained about the lack of a "kitchen or bathroom", saying: "It's not even a house".

A second person also disputed the house status, calling the property a "very small extension", while a third compared it to "an overgrown outbuilding".

The house is owned by Jan Tyley and it has been in her family for five generations.

She previously told the Mirror: “My great great grandfather bought it in 1891 as a letting property. But nine years later the council told him it was too small to be a house and they wanted to pull it down.

“Luckily, he was good friends with the editor of the local newspaper, who started a campaign to find out if it was the smallest house in the country.”

The home was used as a residence from the 16th century until 1900, when it was deemed too small to be habitable.

But the council spared the property from demolition after it was established that the Conwy house really was the smallest in the country.

They said it was still too small for people to live in so the property was preserved as a tourist attraction in 1990.
