Nearly £1,200 of public funds spent on two luxury leather folders
Chancellor Rachel Reeves is pushing her cabinet colleagues to find major savings in their departments. In a case of very awkward timing, new figures reveal one recently spent almost £1,200 on two luxury leather folders.
’Iron fist’ against waste
They were bought from Barrow Hepburn & Gale for £594 each in October, the day before the budget.
According to BBC News, the luxury brand’s folders are popular with other government departments too - and even Ms Reeves uses them.
She has today vowed to wield an "iron fist" against waste, as she asks cabinet ministers to find "efficiency savings" of 5% a year.
But in the meantime, those folder prices have certainly made me feel better about my irresponsible Black Friday Lego purchase.
