Justin Timberlake has been arrested for drink driving in the Hamptons
Justin Timberlake has been arrested for driving while intoxicated.
The singer was driving in the Hamptons when the incident occurred, reports PA, with police following him after he allegedly drove past a stop sign.
ABC News allege that a law enforcement officer said the arrest occurred Monday night in Sag Harbor, New York.
The 43-year-old will appear in court today (Tuesday June 18), it is claimed.
A representative for Sag Harbor Police Department told TMZ that Timberlake is currently in custody at their station. They claim that a release of further information is imminent.
According to the outlet, a source connected to law enforcement said the singer was at the American Hotel partying but left and began driving.
An officer reportedly saw him pass a stop sign without stopping so started to follow him, Timberlake then began swerving and was pulled over.
The source claimed he was asked to perform a field sobriety test with a breathalyzer analysis but Timberlake refused.
TMZ also report that friends who had met with the NSYNC star at the hotel for dinner arrived and attempted to convince the police to drop the issue.
The entire incident is said to have been caught on body cam footage, with Timberlake handcuffed and arrested at the scene.
‘At around 12:30 AM, we’re told he got into his car to drive back to where he was staying … only to be pulled over almost immediately after he took the wheel,’ they reported.
‘Justin was out to dinner with friends and there were cop cars stationed outside the restaurant, like there are most nights,’ a source also claimed to Daily Mail.
‘They look for people who are leaving after midnight who might have been drinking.
‘Justin left at 12:30am and was pulled over as soon as he left. Nobody was hurt and there was no drama at the scene.’
Timberlake has two upcoming concerts booked in Chicago this weekend as part of his Forget Tomorrow world tour, and a further two occurring in New York’s Madison Square Garden next week. His last performance was in Miami on June 15.
The popstar’s last social media post was on Sunday to mark Father’s Day, with sons Silas, nine, and Phineas, three, who he shares with his wife Jessica Biel.
‘My 2 greatest gifts. I learn more about myself every day just because you both chose me to be your Daddy,’ part of the caption read.
‘I will always be there for you through your peaks and valleys… to lift you up and show you how high you can take this life and to pick you up when you fall.’
Actress Jessica, 42, also marked the occasion by sharing her appreciation for the father of her children.
She wrote: ‘You’re so many things to so many people. But to us you are THE ROCK. The rock we climb on, we lean against. The rock that shades us from the sun.
‘And when we recline on you, as we always do, hopefully our butts will keep you eternally grounded and warm. We LOVE YOU.’
The family-of-four relocated from Los Angeles to Nashville a few years ago, and Jessica explained their decision was due to their desire to get away from the paparazzi.
On SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa, she said: ‘I don’t really think they necessarily respect that, you know, if we’re out and about with our kids.
‘It can be somewhat country dependent where, if we’re in this country, in the States, it’s kind of like state by state, you know, you get hammered on the East Coast, you kind of get hammered on the West Coast. That’s why we don’t really live there anymore.’
