Cafe owner once friendly with David Cameron found guilty of sexual assaults
Victims have revealed they were left ’very distressed’
A cafe owner once friendly with Foreign Secretary David Cameron has been found guilty of sexual assaults.
Hugh “Andy” Anderson, 74, runs the Hi-Lo Jamaican Eating House — a regular haunt of Lord Cameron while he was at nearby Oxford University.
He was reported to have said he liked the future PM ‘‘so much that he often asked him to look after his young son”.
Anderson was convicted of groping two women over their clothing in April and May 2022.
During the trial, one victim explained how Anderson had groped her in the early hours of the morning.
She said: “At one point, I was getting some drinks and a conversation started with this gentleman.
‘‘I can’t remember how the conversation started, but I couldn’t hear him and he suggested I came closer to him.
“I stepped forward to hear him, and then he put his hand around the back of my bum, and then he shoved it up and then he groped me.
“He kept saying, ‘f*** me,’ and I stepped back and pretended I couldn’t hear him - and I kept saying sorry.”
The partner of the other told how she was left “very distressed”.
Anderson, of Oxford, was handed a 26-week suspended prison sentence for each assault at the city’s crown court.
He was also placed on the sex offenders register and must pay £3,500.
