Billie Piper breaks silence on 'enormously difficult' Laurence Fox controversy
Actress Billie Piper has finally broken her silence on her ex husband Laurence Fox, who has made headlines for a number of controversial statements.
The 41-year-old star of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl was married to Laurence in 2007 but their marriage failed to stand the test of time as the pair divorced in 2016. In a recent interview, the mother of two said of Laurence: "I’ve had to make some choices and a divorce speaks for itself. Or at least it should!"
She added: "Look, if people want to try and understand the workings of the guy, they ought to either ask him or his family. Ask [Fox’s brother-in-law, actor and comedian] Richard Ayoade what he thinks, or his wife [Fox’s actor sister] Lydia. They might have a more interesting take.”
Laurence, who is now more known for being a woke campaigner more than an actor, recently lost a High Court libel case against a former Stonewall trustee and drag artist he called paedophiles on the internet. But as Billie is in a co-parenting dynamic with the former Lewis actor, she explained that it has been incredibly hard for her. Speaking to British Vogue magazine, she said co-parenting with Laurence is done with "enormous difficulty."
She added: "I close everything down and keep a very strict routine with the kids so that there’s consistency. I keep them close. That’s all I can do. I try to keep people from telling me stuff but it’s really, really hard. I don’t read it but everyone wants to talk about it. Sometimes I have to say to people: ‘Please don’t bring this to me, now or ever.’"

She continued to Vogue: "What is paramount for me is the privacy and anonymity of my children. They deserve not to be extensions of the parents and to forge their own identities."
Now, Billie seems to find writing has become more cathartic for her than acting after she penned the anti-rom com titled Rare Beasts in 2019. On writing the follow up to the acclaimed production, she added: "I can lose myself in writing way more than I can in acting now."
